About the project
The Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk is one of the most modern museum institutions in Poland. The project involved a comprehensive overhaul of the multimedia workstations — from hardware infrastructure and application engine replacement to the creation of dedicated 3D models.
Migration: Unity → Unreal Engine 5
The previous application ran on Unity. The new version was built in Unreal Engine 5, which unlocked visual capabilities previously out of reach in a museum setting — global illumination, photorealistic materials, and detailed architecture recreating wartime scenes.

Dedicated 3D character models
For the new application, high-polygon character models were created — residents of wartime Warsaw dressed in historically accurate costumes, with full animation.
Workstation modernisation
Alongside the application, a full hardware infrastructure replacement was carried out:
- New computers – workstations capable of running Unreal Engine 5 in real time
- Triple-screen configuration – a panoramic display creating an immersive environment for visitors
- FLIRC remotes – infrared control with no need to touch screens or keyboards
- New software – complete system configuration tailored to museum exhibition requirements
The workstations were designed for reliability — running seven days a week for many hours each day.
